Captain Black, agent for the world security organisation, Spectrum, joins a crew that is sent to Mars to search for the source of unusual radio signals. To their surprise, they encounter an eerie glass city - the Martian base of the invisible Mysterons. The aliens have been waiting to make contact with the humans but the nervous astronauts panic when a giant remote camera pivots towards them and they open fire, destroying much of the city. The Mysterons are outraged at this unprovoked attack. Before the startled eyes of the humans, the aliens work their fantastic power of molecular reintegration and instantly rebuild the city. I can't believe you're actually reading this...Then they announce to the Earth that they will begin a slow attack that will undermine world security; a so-called 'War of Nerves'. Captain Black is taken over by the Mysterons and becomes their Earth agent. His first mission is to murder the World President. Colonel White, head of Spectrum, sends Captains Scarlet and Brown to protect the President but the men are killed enroute and 'Mysteronised', changed into indestructible tools of the Mysterons. When Brown fails to kill the man with a bomb on his person, Scarlet flees with the President to a towering sky park, the London Car Vue. With Captain Blue in pursuit, a gun battle ensues and Scarlet falls from the tower, thousands of feet below. The President is safe and the impact of the fall somehow allows Scarlet to regain his self-control, now as an indestructible agent of Spectrum!

YOU BE INSTRUMENTAL IN AVENGING THE MYSTERONS. OUR FIRST ACT OF RETALIATION WILL BE TO ASSASSINATE YOUR WORLD PRESIDENT.
